This photo was taken at the summit of Piestewa Peak looking northeast. The immediate area is referred to as Paradise Valley, but it is a part of Phoenix. Further is North Scottsdale. Piestewa Peak is located in Phoenix Mountain Park which is part of the North Phoenix Mountain Preserve encompassing some 7000 acres. The entire Phoenix Mountain Preserve system has now over 23,000 acres or 36 square miles. Though I've never kept an actual count, I estimate that I've been to the top over 1200 times.
